QPF one step closer...

Painting has nearly finished and tiling has started today at the QPF building in Springwood.

Josh Rufford has worked his magic yet again with the graphics / illustrations. Can't wait to see the graphics applied to the walls & glass frosting feature areas.

Next week will see the finishing of the painting, tiling and the carpet installation. In the next two weeks, this project will really come together. Looking forward to it!

MIRRA renovation.... the plans are underway

Well after 5 years of successful trade at Mirra Private Dining & Events (http://www.mirra.net.au/), it's time to renovate!!

The month of February 2012 (a whole four weeks... wow... we love being busy) has been cleared to allow a four week block for construction works. A wedding booked for Sat March 3rd so there will be no going slow!

The wear and tear of 5 years (next April) worth of beautiful functions, weddings, fashion parades, corporate events, 21st's etc has taken it's toll and it is time to reinvent Mirra!

Planning is underway... the main focus will be to strip the colour out of the fit-out and to replace with a neutral pallete - allowing our clients to personalise the space with their own colour.

The purple and lavender hues will be replaced with bronze, pewter, silver and charcoals - Metallic will be the key trend.

So as a touch of nostalgia, here are some photos taken back in 2007 when Mirra was taking shape.... many memories from our construction days.

I'll keep you posted as to the new my design ideas as we firm up quotes etc.

Enjoy!

QPF Office scaffolding comes down....

The construction scaffolding has come down from the building facade of QPF offices at Springwood and it has been worth the wait!

The building colours marry together very well and create a soft platform to make the signage pop.

The feature tiles at the entrance are being installed as we speak... a metallic grey / copper industrial tile to highlight the main entry foyer.

More photos to follow...

Construction continues at QPF Offices, Springwood

QPF's offices at Springwood are coming along  nicely with exterior scaffolding to come down next week to reveal the front building facade.

All internal walls are now in with paint, carpet and glazing set to be installed in the coming days.

Graphics & signage will play a huge part in lifting the interior spaces of the office and provide a backdrop of interest and colour. Josh Rufford is working on the second draft of graphics and if his first round concepts are anything to go by, we can't wait to see the round 2!

A feature wall paper will need to be chosen to spark up the central lift lobby to compliment the sexy marble look ceramic tile. I'm loving James Dunlop's new range distributed through Mokum Fabrics... the metallic palette is right on trend.

Looking forward to the unveiling of the building next week...

Having fun with carpet tiles...

Many hours were spent at the office of Resource Strategies here in Brisbane last Saturday, helping bring together two separate commercial spaces through some floor covering trickery! The existing office (which we designed and fitout earlier this year) was handed over with a beige coloured Ontera carpet tile complete with blue feature tile strips. On the back of the success of the business, Resource Strategies had to rapidly expand into a second adjoining tenancy... one of the biggest concerns was that the carpet tiles in this area were different - a royal blue base colour with orange accent feature tile strip.

My role was to design Resource Strategies brand into this new expansion space, all the while maintaining the concept design of the original space and integrating the two areas together seamlessly. I worked up a scheme to merge the two areas together at a corner junction, through the use of pattern and an injection of new carpet tiles in the Ontera range.

Out with the old and in with the new, from 6.30am onwards, we painstakingly lifted & replaced tile by tile in the middle section until such time as the two areas looked like one. We also used the opportunity to replace many of the discoloured and stained old tiles and ensured the main corridor areas were replaced with the darker colours to limit the obvious wear and tear on the lighter coloured tiles.

The result was a huge success thanks to all involved - the office looks younger and funkier and much more in tune with the dynamic Resource Strategies brand. Graphics will be applied to the new walls shortly - currently in design. I'll be sure to show you the end result soon!
