Having fun with carpet tiles...

Many hours were spent at the office of Resource Strategies here in Brisbane last Saturday, helping bring together two separate commercial spaces through some floor covering trickery! The existing office (which we designed and fitout earlier this year) was handed over with a beige coloured Ontera carpet tile complete with blue feature tile strips. On the back of the success of the business, Resource Strategies had to rapidly expand into a second adjoining tenancy... one of the biggest concerns was that the carpet tiles in this area were different - a royal blue base colour with orange accent feature tile strip.

My role was to design Resource Strategies brand into this new expansion space, all the while maintaining the concept design of the original space and integrating the two areas together seamlessly. I worked up a scheme to merge the two areas together at a corner junction, through the use of pattern and an injection of new carpet tiles in the Ontera range.

Out with the old and in with the new, from 6.30am onwards, we painstakingly lifted & replaced tile by tile in the middle section until such time as the two areas looked like one. We also used the opportunity to replace many of the discoloured and stained old tiles and ensured the main corridor areas were replaced with the darker colours to limit the obvious wear and tear on the lighter coloured tiles.

The result was a huge success thanks to all involved - the office looks younger and funkier and much more in tune with the dynamic Resource Strategies brand. Graphics will be applied to the new walls shortly - currently in design. I'll be sure to show you the end result soon!
